Whether you’re looking for total relaxation, to prepare for a special event or you’re looking for help with a specific skin condition such as pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, acne or scarring we can help and advise.
Skin is the largest organ in the body and is very complicated. Choosing which skin care products to use and which facial to have can be really confusing, and can often result in you not achieving the results you were looking for, having a cupboard full of unused lotions and potions, wasting your money and in some cases damaging your skin. That’s why we’re here to guide you.
With over 30 years of experience in facials and skin care, salon owner Caroline wanted to add a results driven skin care range for her clients.
Nimue is a simple to use, phased derma-cosmeceutical range, which means it is active and works deeper in the skin, causing a cumulative effect which will create gradual changes in your skin. All whilst preserving and maintaining healthy skin, reducing redness, controlling breakouts and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Nimue’s in salon treatments are a range of gentle, effective peels. The Nimue journey is an exciting one, but it is slow and gentle to avoid the “down time” often experienced with chemical peels.
This along with Nimue’s cruelty free ethos, eco-friendly approach to recycling and a refill system ticked all of Caroline’s boxes and more.
Nimue was developed in 1994 by leading skincare scientists and plastic surgeons aimed at the medical market for pre and post facial surgeries. Since then, Nimue has evolved into a globally recognised professional skincare brand. Nimue treats the cause and not the symptoms of a skin condition.
There is a Nimue Skin plan for everyone. All ages and all skin concerns.
Nimue has a unique way of looking at the skin, with 4 groups of classification; Environmentally Damaged, Hyperpigmented, Problematic & Sensitive. The primary goal of Nimue is to help you achieve your healthiest skin.
Most skins will fall in to this category. It can apply to anyone over the age of 18. The skin rejuvenation process starts to slow down around the age of 20.
Imagine your skin is like a mattress (the dermis) with a topper (epidermis) laid on top. When we are young the dermis is plump with lots of effective springs (collagen) supporting it and the epidermis is thin and smooth, no lumps and bumps (wrinkles). The skin cells are born at the bottom of the epidermis and travel up to the top layer and naturally lift off as dead skin cells.
As we age, this process slows down and thanks to the addition of exposure to UV light, the dermis gets thinner, the collagen springs become loose and weak, and the epidermis gets thicker. These things combined create less firm, duller, thickened and lined skin.
Rejuvenation is the act of speeding the cell renewal up. This can strengthen the dermis, creating plumpness and thinning down the epidermis, bringing back smoother, more radiant skin.
Young skin can still suffer from environmental damage. Free radical damage is caused by late nights, smoking, alcohol and caffeine. Students and young professionals may have firm skin, but they often suffer from breakouts and/ or oil imbalances, and are often exposed to higher levels of pollution and blue light from screens.
As skin matures, the rejuvenation process slows even more and the biggest concerns in this age group is more likely to be loose skin, lines and dullness.
All of these skin types fall into this bracket and need a boost to regulate and balance the skin and allow it to reach its optimum skin health.
This category is for you if you’re concerned with dark patches on your skin. These can be caused by a number of things, one of the most common being UV exposure. This results in an overproduction of melanin as a defence mechanism, which causes dark patches on the skin.
Other causes are incorrect product usage, hormonal changes, medication, ageing & trauma to the area. Hyperpigmentation caused by trauma to the area is known as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Treating hyperpigmentation must be done using a slow and gradual treatment process and therefore will require patience and dedication to the treatment plan. Being too aggressive and irritating the skin can lead to more pigment forming, which is obviously what we don’t want to happen. This is where Nimue’s slow and gentle approach is ideal for achieving the best possible results.
Superficial pigmentation will lighten more easily and can be treated quicker than deep-seated pigmentation. Deeper pigmentation might appear darker initially, as a result of the fact that the lighter top layers are being removed and the true discolouration is being exposed.
Problematic skin, also classified as acne, presents in varying degrees and symptoms including blackheads, whiteheads and spots. Causes can be poor nutrition, incorrect product usage, hormonal changes, medication, stress and ageing.
The three classifications of acne are, acne prone, active acne and acute acne.
Acute acne is also inflamed, and in this instance, we would begin with the interactive range to calm your skin before we started to treat with the problematic range. This would be done with your doctors’ approval if necessary.
Other treatments that we offer that would have a beneficial effect for problematic skins are our Celluma LED and Advanced Nutrition Programme supplements.
Sensitive skin is that which is sensitised, it can be fragile, reactive, high in colour, hot to touch, irritated and inflamed. This condition can be caused by, climate conditions, hormonal changes, incorrect product usage, medication, stress, diet, spicy foods, allergies and chemotherapy.
Nimue’s Sensitive range restores normal skin function and prepares the skin to be gradually introduced to the next Nimue Skin Classification.
Traditional cosmetic beauty products have little effect on changing or rejuvenating the skin and are restricted to beautifying on a superficial level. A derma-cosmeceutical product effectively assists in reducing the signs of damage in the skin and ultimately helps develop a healthier skin through active skin rejuvenation.
Nimue is a new generation derma-cosmeceutical: active skin treatments and products with pharmaceutical like benefits that are able to affect the structure and biological functioning of the skin, resulting in healthier, optimally functioning skin with visible results.
Nimue’s new generation derma-cosmeceutical products gently but effectively cleanse and naturally exfoliate your skin, the day and night creams are formulated to re-educate your skin, and are customised to specific concerns, to assist in healing and restructuring your skin.
In the first 7-10 days of using the Nimue core programme, there will be noticeable changes in your skin. How noticeable will depend on how active (or not) your previous products were. The less active, the more noticeable the changes. These changes can include excess oil, dry and flaky patches, some redness and possible breakouts. This is called the transitional period and through your communication with us, we will guide you through any adjustments needed to come through this stage and embrace your newly healthy skin.
Nimue’s Y-Skin health programme for youth concentrates on the 10-18 year old age group and restores skin health through the regulation and correction of skin functions.
Complete our online skin consultation questionnaire which is in the skin treatments menu, we will then contact you and book a time for your Introduction to Nimue consultation.
At John & Associates we offer a Personalised Skin Health Programme. This begins with a 1-2-1 consultation with your skin care therapist and will ensure you are using the appropriate home care products and skin supplements which will work in harmony with your in-salon treatments. Your therapist will be on hand to support your skin transformation journey and help with any queries and advise on how to correctly use your products at home.
Nimue can only be purchased following a skin consultation with a qualified Nimue skin therapist. For this reason, you will not find Nimue available to buy online. We don’t even have it listed on our own online shop so that we can be sure that everyone that buys their Nimue skin care from us has had a full skin consultation. All stockists of Nimue have to sign an agreement that they won’t sell the products online when they begin to stock it. However, we can carry out an online skin consultation and post your products to you if you don’t live in our local area.
If you are new to Nimue, we can offer you a range of professional treatments straight away. Nimue professional treatments enhance the efficacy of your home care products and accelerate the skin rejuvenation process, which over time delivers dramatic results.
We will always start with a thorough consultation.

Nimue’s newest and strongest peel is the Smart Resurfacer. It is unique in that it is oil based and waterless.
It provides all the benefit of a medium depth peel (in the UK only doctors can perform a medium depth peel) but with none of the side effects or downtime.
Nimue’s core ethos is maximum stimulation with minimum irritation, tingling and discomfort are minimal with Smart Resurfacer Peel.
Chemical peels are well known professional skin treatments and are very popular for the results that they deliver, but they often come with side effects such as redness and inflammation. This is why some clients are reluctant to try chemical peels. The Smart Resurfacer Peel allows us to deliver the results clients want with none of those side effects that often come hand in hand with those results.
1 hour 15 minutes | £87.50 |
All of the above advanced peels will be prescribed for you in a personalised programme. They will be prescribed according to your skin classification and the number of treatments will depend on whether your skin is classified as mild or severe.
All skin classifications can benefit from avoiding sun exposure, refraining from smoking, eating a balanced diet, ensuring you get adequate sleep and managing your stress levels.
When you are using Nimue it is important that you stick only to using Nimue products at home. If you’re a product junkie it may be tempting to add in more active products, this will result in over treating the skin which can result in impairment to the skin barrier and can cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. If you are using Tretinoin, Accutane, Cortisone or high dosages of Vitamin A, you can only use the Nimue Sensitive Range.
